Besides the production of high quality wines, Villa Mangiacane’s territory has been always suited to the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil of exceptional organoleptic quality.
Until 2001, within Villa Mangiacane there was a well reputed oil mill in the area, which was discarded after the restoration of the Villa into a boutique hotel.
Nowadays Villa Mangiacane still maintains the production of the olive trees. The surface cultivated with olive groves includes various types of olive trees (Moraiolo, Frantoiano, Maremmano, Pendolino, Pendolino del Corno, Grevignolo and Leccino), and extends for approximately 37.40 ha between San Casciano and Greve in Chianti; it contains about 7000 plants all certified by DOP Chianti Classico.
The blend with the various typologies of olives lends to the oil DOP intense scents of row artichoke, almond, and fresh grass with a persistent velvety taste, slightly spicy at the end.
